Montreal – June, 2017 — Newtrax Technologies Inc. (‘Newtrax’) – the leading provider of safety and operations management systems for underground hard rock mines announced it has been selected by Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) to supply an automated wireless monitoring system for its Jabal Sayid mine in Saudi Arabia.
MBCC’s Jabal Sayid mine selected Newtrax to provide the automated wireless monitoring system for the paste backfill process of their underground stopes. The Newtrax system will enable the mine to receive real-time information for continuous monitoring of live readings during filling operations.
Newtrax distributor Ramjack Technology Solutions who services the region will also supply multipoint borehole extensometers by Mine Design Technologies (MDT) for monitoring ground movement and vibrating wire instruments by RST for monitoring the paste backfill.
The Jabal Sayid underground mine produced 30 million pounds of copper since it commenced commercial production on July 1 2016.

The Jabal Sayid project is a 50-50 joint venture between Barrick Gold and Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) which commenced commercial production on July 1, 2016.
Jabal Sayid produced 30 million pounds of copper in 2016 (Barrick’s share), at a cost of sales of $2.33 per pound, and all-in sustaining costs of $2.98 per pound. Barrick’s share of proven and probable copper reserves as of December 31, 2016, was 627 million pounds (11.3 million tonnes, grading 2.51%).
Barrick’s share of production in 2017 is anticipated to be 35-45 million pounds, at a cost of sales of $2.10-$2.80 per pound, and all-in sustaining costs of $2.10-$2.60 per pound.
