Newtrax Technologies Inc. is a high-tech company based in Montreal, Canada.

We are specialized in battery-powered wireless networks for tracking, texting and telemetry in environments where the installation of wires for power and communications is problematic.

The military was an early adopter of our technology and in collaboration with the Communications Research Center and Defense R&D of Canada we are developing the next generation of self-organizing, self-healing and autonomous sensor networks for persistent surveillance in remote areas.

MineTrax is our networking platform purpose-built for underground mines and in collaboration with several mining application specialists, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of solutions to improve safety, productivity, condition-based maintenance and energy management.

Technology

In underground mines, GPS does not work and reliable two-way communications are a challenge, especially at the working face and in post-accident scenarios.

At remote mine sites, the shortage and high turnover of skilled labor complicates the timely installation and maintenance of networks, further reducing the coverage and availability of communications.

In this context,the simplicity and backward compatibility of the MineTrax system are very valuable. The MineTrax network infrastructure consists of wireless, battery-powered and self-organizing nodes designed to last YEARS on a few small D cell batteries. The MineTrax system can also internetwork with both narrowband (e.g. leaky feeder, through-the-earth) and broadband (e.g. fiber, coaxial) backhaul links to the surface providing maximum flexibility and adaptability to heterogeneous mine sites.
