Quality Assurance Analyst

Location : Montreal, Quebec, Canada

In your role, you will provide continuous evaluation of the quality of the Newtrax solution and actively promote quality practices across the organization during the development of solutions for the underground mining industry. During the product development, the early involvement of the Quality Assurance Analyst is the key of ensuring the quality attributes and compliance with technical specifications of the solutions offered to our clients. Through his deep understanding of the system, the Quality Assurance Analyst is a centric resource in the team for identifying potential problems and evaluating their impact on the whole system. Methodical and rigorous test techniques allow the Quality Assurance Analyst to achieve reproducible and scalable activities.



  • Collaborate in ensuring that features are well defined ahead of development by respecting the I.N.V.E.S.T. criteria
  • Create automated tests using a scripting language (python)
  • Feature testing of new server software features using real hardware
  • Good understanding of SQL statements
  • Providing rapid, frequent and regular feedback to the team and Scrum Master
  • Designing and writing test cases for every new feature
  • Accurately recording software defects and providing thorough and reliable means of defect reproduction
  • Executing end-to-end tests every Release
  • Managing Defects
  • Participating in engineering reviews
  • Participating in acceptance tests
  • Helping to investigate and reproduce customer issues
  • Answering support calls from customers occasionally
  • Executing QA of Documentation (Release Notes, Installation Manual, Operation Manual, Maintenance Manual, Online help)
  • Recommending corrective actions based on test execution
  • Recommending general QA and testing improvements
  • Facilitating and promoting the ongoing improvement of QA processes, methodologies and metrics
  • Keeping on top of emerging quality practices


  • Solid experience in testing complex server firmware
  • Relevant experience with telecommunications systems and metrics to assess their performance
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments, learn new technologies quickly and be a team player with a positive entrepreneurial spirit
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of SQL (asset)
  • General IT knowledge (asset)
  • Knowledge of computer virtualization (asset)
  • Experience within the mining industry (asset)
  • Test automation experience with Mobile Devices (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) (asset)

  • College or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or Software Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
